Tomoe Engineering distributes Graphite Electrodes of UCAR Carbon U.S.A.
Tomoe Engineering has started sale in the domestic market of graphite electrodes made by UCAR Carbon Co., U.S.A., the world's largest graphite manufacturer.
Tomoe Engineering has so far been selling UCAR's other products, such as specialty graphite products. Tomoe Engineering has decided to undertake marketing of its graphite electrodes too, the UCAR's principal merchandise that accounts for over 70% of their sales. Tomoe Engineering aims total sales of 3,000 tons of electrodes in an amount of approx. \900 million in two years from now. Electrode users consist of iron/stainless steel mills running arc furnaces to melt material. Tomoe Engineering sells large-sized electrodes over 45cm in diameter mainly. Domestic demand for graphite electrodes is estimated to be 66,000 tons per annum.
At present, domestic makers are holding the majority of shares for graphite electrodes, but Tomoe Engineering is aiming to gain a share of about 5% in the domestic market with its newly imported UCAR Carbon products.
