Tomoe Engineering enters cement additive business with import of Russian products
Tomoe Engineering has embarked on the import and sale of Russian "Silica Fume," which makes an additive for the cement. With its first shipment of 400 tons already delivered, our company has made a substantive step into the cement business in Japan. For the time being, we are planning to handle approximately 10,000 tons of the material annually.
To supply key industries like the construction, building materials, plastics, aluminum, agricultural chemicals, etc., our company is importing a variety of mineral products from world over, especially from such countries as Australia, China and America. A typical example of them is Wollastonite from the U.S. and China, which finds its main application as a dimensional stabilizer for plastics.
Silica Fume that has been newly added to our line is a mineral product used as an additive for the building cement boards and industrial concrete for purposes of rendering them light in weight and strong. Originally produced in the southern part of Siberia, the mineral is routed to Japan via Siberian Railway. Our country is importing some Chinese silica fume too, but we are counting on the Russian counterpart for its supply consistency.
As mentioned above, first 400 tons of silica fume was already imported and is being introduced to the cement market. The volume to handle would be expanded to 10,000 tons a year, and in addition, negotiations are now under way with the Russian authority for possible conclusion of a distributorship agreement.
